We made it to week 2 of quarantine learning. As always I appreciate your flexibility and work ethic while we learn from remote locations. Below is this weeks schedule. Keep in mind that as these are unprecedented times I reserve the right to make changes as we go. That being said, I keep you updated with any alterations to the schedule. In the additional learning category I added podcasts. If you are like me you like to listen to podcasts while doing other things. I've found a few that are relevant to what we are learning, so if you want to expand your learning and enjoy podcasts check these out.

Hello again,
Today we will begin utilizing Microsoft teams as well as my website to keep you up to date. The Teams page will be opened at 10AM with an intro assignment to practice using the new online recourse. Below I will post a link to this weeks schedule. I understand this is a unique and unprecedented time, so I will do my best to be as flexible as possible and realize this is a learning experience for everyone involved. My office hours for this week will be 10AM-1PM. During these times I will be at my computer and able to respond to emails as fast as possible. Always feel free to email me with any questions, comments or concerns. Mr Ulland We will continue learning about modern India and the impact of a caste system. Below I will post some more articles I found regarding the topic including an excerpt from Gandhi's book. This time they are much more modern articles based off what is going on in India today. You are to answer the questions that go with each article, then after finding your own, you will create a thesis based off of what you are read. You will answer one of the following questions:
How does the caste system impact India today? Is India moving towards what Gandhi saw as the “India of My Dreams”? This is all practice right now to prepare ourselves for new content when we begin new learning on April 20th. I look forward to touching base with you all then. Please feel free to email me with any questions comments or concerns. Mr. Ulland At this point you have learned a lot about India and its detailed history. This week we are going to look deeper into India's history and determine it's impact on today's India; starting with the caste system. While the caste system is treated differently today, it is still prevalent in Indian culture.
Your goal by the end of this week is to be able to create a thesis, supported with evidence, dealing with the impact of the caste system in India today. Below I will be posting 3 documents and a question sheet. You are to look through and read the documents answering the corresponding questions. You should always be taking notes and marking anything that you think may have had an impact on the caste system and society in India today. On Wednesday, I will post a couple more articles to help you gather evidence and tools to develop a thesis statement. This is all practice to prepare yourself for when we begin learning new content and start the integrated research paper. Remember you should always keep the value and limitations of each source in mind. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist, who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British Rule. Read and get to know more about the influencial figure of Gandhi. |
