The last few days we have spend preparing for the Unit 2 test. Utilize the study guide (posted below and on the main page) as a helpful tool. The unit test is on the following topics.
The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution are among the most important political documents ever written. We looked at eight of the key principles the founding fathers utilized to create these to crucial documents that set the tone for the creating of the original modern democracy.
This week we have taken a deeper look into the idea of power and authority. We reviewed the 5 sources of power and why certain people, scenarios and institutions have power over us. Then we began looking at the different forms of government. Each form of government utilizes power in its own way. We discussed and reviewed the pros and cons of different kinds of governments around the world. Use the slides below to review this weeks learning.
If you missed this in class please complete the following.
You will write a thesis driven paragraph (ish) addressing the following prompt: Which cultural universal has the greatest impact on individuals? May include an intro paragraph though not required. You should support your thesis with specific evidence and thorough analysis. Examples from your own life are encouraged! This will be graded on solid effort but evaluated according to the humanities rubric. Below will be a writing tool organizer. This can also be typed and printed off, or hand written on lined paper. Today in class we reflected on our map activity. Our goal was to look at how our experiences impact how we view the world around us. After that we begun the activity "Village of 100". The lesson asks students to shrink the worlds population from 7,530,000,000 to 100 while keeping the same rations. Essentially what percentage of the world fits in each category. If this was not completed in class today have it done at the beginning of class on 9/9 for periods 1,5 & 7 and 9/10 for periods 2,6.
